How To Get Better Skincare Matches From The Routine Finder

3 minute read

A useful skincare routine starts with an accurate picture of what you need and what you will actually use. That is why our routine finder asks about more than your favourite brand.

Before opening Build my skincare routine on the Flawless Body homepage, take a moment to think about how your skin behaves most days and the products already in your bathroom. Those two things make your answers much more useful.

Should you choose a brand first?

If you have a preference, select it. You can start with brands such as SkinCeuticals, Medik8, Obagi or CeraVe. If you are undecided, Help me choose allows the finder to look across the catalogue.

A preferred brand is a starting point. It does not mean you must force every step into one range, especially if your budget or individual needs point elsewhere.

What is the difference between your focus and your skin type?

Your focus is what you want to improve; your skin type answer describes how your skin behaves. The finder separates these questions for a reason.

You might choose a hydration goal because of tightness, while the most accurate description of your skin is combination because your T-zone also becomes shiny. Do not change an honest answer simply because it sounds different from the goal you selected.

The focus question allows several choices. Select what is relevant now, rather than every result that sounds appealing. If you are unsure, use the uncertainty option shown on screen.

Why does it ask about breakouts separately?

The screen distinguishes occasional spots, recurring breakouts and congestion, and lets you say this is not your concern. Choose the closest description rather than treating all of these as the same answer.

You do not need to diagnose yourself. Use the words that describe your experience, and use the additional-text option if you need to explain a detail the choices miss.

How honest should you be about your existing routine?

Describe what you do consistently. A cleanser you use every evening tells the finder more about your habits than five products you open occasionally.

The starting-point question ranges from a clean slate to an established ritual. Later, the pace question lets you choose a focused routine or more targeted steps. Choose the version you can realistically maintain, including on a busy weekday.

What belongs in the suitability question?

The optional Keeping it thoughtful step lets you flag known sensitivities, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and prescription treatment or recent procedures. Read the screen carefully and do not assume a tick box medically clears a product.

The finder itself advises checking with your clinician for diagnosed conditions or prescription treatment. It provides catalogue-based suggestions, and the resulting shortlist has not had an individual clinical review.

What should you check in the results?

  • Purpose: understand the job of each suggested step.
  • Ingredients and directions: open the product page before deciding.
  • What you already own: avoid replacing a useful product automatically.
  • Optional extras: include them only if you want the additional step.
  • Total cost: recheck after changing the selections.

Use Edit answers if you missed a detail, and introduce products gradually according to their instructions. Save the shortlist by email or PDF if you want time to compare it with your current routine.
